Our mission
businesses have long been underserved by generic international software. The tools available were either too basic (spreadsheets, disconnected apps), too expensive (enterprise systems designed for Fortune 500 companies), or too American (built for US tax law with compliance added later as an afterthought).
Our mission is to build software that businesses actually want to use. Tools that just work, priced fairly, and built with our specific tax laws, compliance requirements, and business realities in mind.
We measure success by the time we save you, the compliance headaches we prevent, and the insights we surface. If Novala makes your business easier to run, we have done our job.
The company behind Novala
Novala is developed by Novala, a corporation based in Edmonton, Alberta. Our team brings together experience in accounting, payroll compliance, software engineering, and small business operations.
Novala was built to solve real problems we saw businesses facing every day: too much time on paperwork, complex tax compliance, and disconnected tools that did not talk to each other. When other business owners saw early versions of what we had built, they asked if they could use it too. Novala is the result of that conversation.
We are a small team, and we intend to stay that way for a while. Small teams ship better software. Small teams stay close to their customers. Small teams make decisions faster.
Why we built this
Every small business owner we talked to had the same story: they were spending too much time on paperwork, tax filings, and administrative work, and not enough time actually running their business. The tools they were using were either American products that did not quite fit, expensive enterprise systems that were overkill, or a patchwork of spreadsheets and disconnected apps that created more work than they saved.
Novala exists to change that. Every feature we build has to earn its place by solving a real problem for a real business. Every workflow has to save someone time or prevent a compliance mistake. Every dollar we charge has to be worth many more dollars in value.
What we believe
We believe software should be a tool that amplifies what people can do, not a bureaucracy that gets in the way. We believe pricing should be simple and transparent, not designed to trap customers or force them into upsells. We believe support should be easy to reach and staffed by people who actually understand the product.
We believe businesses deserve first-class software built for their specific reality, not a US product with a maple leaf sticker. That belief drives every product decision we make.
